Danny Mack Thompson

Mr. Danny Mac Thompson, age 79, of Alston, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his home following a lengthy illness.  Born January 11, 1943, in Alston to the late Dan Thompson and Faye McDaniel Thompson, he made Alston his home all of his life.  He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School and served in the Army National Guard Reserve.  Earlier in his life, he worked with Federal Pacific in Vidalia, and later retired after thirty-three years from the Georgia Department of Correctional Industries.  He was a member of the Alston United Methodist Church and South Georgia Beagle Club in Wheeler County.  Mr. Thompson raised Beagles, Blue Healers, and he loved horses and enjoyed hunting.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Roberson Thompson; son, Jon Charles “Chuck” Thompson; sister, Patsy Thompson Rusilko; maternal grandparents, Eudell Morris McDaniel and Murdock McDaniel; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edwin and Jean Roberson.

His family includes one daughter, Gina Thompson Robison and Rand; two grandsons, Luke Thompson and Tyler Thompson and wife Ashley; one great-grandson, Aiden Thompson, all of Vidalia; one sister, Dawn Thompson Sosby of Newnan; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Beltz and husband Don of Leesville, Louisiana, and Rita Roberson of Brunswick, one brother-in-law, Jerry Roberson and wife Judy, several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Tina Bryant; and grand pup, Wednesday.

The funeral service will be Monday, June 27th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Doyle Waller officiating.  Burial will follow at Sharpe Cemetery in Sharpespur. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 12:30 until just prior to the service.
