Wendell Fields

Mr. Wendell Fields, age 79, of Lyons, died Thursday, August 11, 2022, at his home after an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and was a lineman all of his life, working for Utilities Construction and Pike Construction.  He also worked several years on the cattle farm for Bennie McLendon, Lone Pine Charolais.  He was a member of Hammond Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, coon hunting, mechanicing, and tinkering.  He was a loving husband, father and pa.  He is preceded in death by his parents, King George Fields and Girdie Fowler Fields, stepmother, Peggy Cox Fields; sister, Voncille Fields Webber; and brother, Jerry A. Fields.

His family includes his wife of forty-eight years, Debra Reese Fields of Lyons; four children, Glen Fields and wife Maureen of Douglas, Shannon Fields of Vidalia, Kimberly Fields Powell and husband Jeff of Ailey and J.R. Fields and wife Angie of Vidalia; one brother, Roger Fields of Lyons; two sisters, Linda Fields Wright and Susan Fields Betancourt and husband Ryal, all of Lyons; twenty grandchildren, Cheyanne Fields, Whittney Terrll and husband Kody, Brittney Turner and husband Jamey, Wendell Fields II and fiancé Chris Cook, Blake Fields, Christa Fields, Katalina Losolla, Celina Losolla, Jacob Fields, Ryan Fields, Ashton Luke, Jessalyn Cady, Sara Beth Fields, Whitley Powell, Chance Powell, Mikayla Powell, Karson Luke, Colton Fields, Adalynn Fields and Presley Fields; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, August 14th, at 2:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Jessie Todd and Pastor Daniel Caraway officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
