Benilda Craft

Benilda Blaxton Craft, age 83, of Lyons, died Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Kibbee Community and lived there until moving to Toombs County in the early 1950s.  She was a 1956 graduate of Vidalia High School where she played basketball.  She worked as a secretary for Attorney Bill Sharpe, with CIT Financial Group and retired in 1988 from Farm Credit after twenty-five years.  She was a member of Lyons First Baptist Church and attended various churches in the area.  She loved singing in church and in nursing homes.  She enjoyed flowers, collecting angels and especially spending time with her grandchildren.  Benilda was a resident at The Oaks Assisted Living for six and half years before recently moving to Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Sammy J. Craft; grandson, Jonathan Brinson; two great-granddaughters, LilyAnna Brinson and Elizabeth Mae Harrelson; parents, Rufelt Blaxton and Donna Winge Blaxton; one sister, Ruth Palmer; and one brother, Billy Blaxton.

Her family includes her daughter, Tammy Brinson Harrelson and husband Ronald of Lyons; four grandchildren, Warren Brinson of Ellijay, Julia Brinson Toole and husband Dylan of Lyons, Eugene Harrelson and wife Jeanette of Ft. Worth, Texas and Adam Harrelson and wife Rachael of Burleson, Texas; one sister, Janice Blaxton Palmer and husband Leland of Vidalia; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Saturday morning, January 21st, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Mr. Chris Palmer officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
