Michael A. Hayes, age 18, of Santa Claus, died Thursday, January 19, 2023, from injuries sustained in automobile accident in Cherokee County, Alabama.  He was a native of Toombs County, where he lived most of his life and lived in Alabama and Kentucky for a few years.  Michael attended Vidalia Comprehensive High School and was a member of ROTC.  Currently, he was working at Tumi Luggage in Vidalia.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being outside and shooting.

His family includes his mother, Marie Tyson Walker and husband Anthony of Santa Claus; father, Brent A. Hayes of Prattville, Alabama; paternal grandparents, Cathy and Bruce Hayes of Clinton, Alabama; maternal grandfather, David Logue, Sr. of Soperton; maternal step-grandparents, Judy and David Walker of Cynthiana, Kentucky; and several aunts and uncles, including, Susan Smith of Alma, Sara Walker of Birmingham, Alabama, Elizabeth Maggard of Cynthiana, and Franklin Walker of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
