Kinney James 002

Mr. James L. Kinney, of Alston, died January 22, 2023, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Montgomery County and spent most of his life in Alston. James was a truck driver for thirty-six years, retired from Williams Brothers Trucking, and was Methodist by faith. He loved camping on the river sandbars, riding four-wheelers, messing with his chickens, and always spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elgamarie and John Kinney; and siblings, Janet Hill and John Kinney, Jr.

Mr. Kinney’s loved ones include his wife of thirty-one years, Rhonda Kinney of Alston; his children, Leslie Kinney and husband Tim Herebooth of Missouri, Everett Kinney and wife Allison of Illinois, and Anna Kinney of Alston; his siblings, Joy Kinney of the Toombs Central area, Jennifer Kinney of Alston, and Julianne Miles of Houston County; one grandchild, Laila of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Wilkes Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 25th at 3:00pm with Pastor Doyle Waller officiating. The burial will follow in Mount Vernon City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Community Hospice House Foundation at P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA, 30475.
