MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Brewton-Parker baseball student-athletes Ty Cook and Jacob Mantooth were named SSAC Baseball Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The duo sweeps the weekly awards for their opening weekend performances at No. 25 Keiser (Fla.) on Friday and Saturday.
Cook earns Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in his career after tossing 14 strikeouts in 7.2 innings across two appearances on the bump. He received a no-decision in the series-opening win with 13 strikeouts while allowing a pair of earned runs across seven innings before picking up a two-out save in the 6-5 finale victory on Saturday.
Mantooth gathers his first weekly honor, playing a key role in both of BPC’s wins this weekend. He recorded two homers and one double while scoring three runs and driving in two. He knocked out the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth during Saturday's 6-5 win.
