Wayne Horton

Mr. Wayne T. Horton, age 83, of Vidalia, died Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a native of St. Simons Island and moved to Adrian in 1951.  He was a 1957 graduate of Adrian High School, attended Mt. Berry College, and later earned a Bachelor’s degree.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and served three years in the Army National Guard.  He retired after forty years from Oxford Industries as Division Head Mechanic for the entire Oxford Shirt Division.  He was Baptist by faith, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of forty-one years, Joyce Virginia Brantley Horton; one son, Gregory Wayne Horton; stepdaughter, Teresa Gibbs; parents, John R. Horton and Willie V. Walker Horton; and two brothers, Billy Horton and Bobby Horton.

His family includes two daughters, Vickey Horton Wammock and husband Tripp of Lyons, and Yvonne Horton Corona of Vista, California; one stepdaughter, Sue Maybin of Dublin; nine grandchildren, Denton Tapley and Carston Tapley of Lyons, Ben Maybin and wife Michelle of Tarrytown, Michael Maybin and wife Kelly of Milledgeville, Jeremy Maybin and wife Joni of Mt. Vernon, Michele G. Johnson and husband Jeff of Alamo, Mandi G. Soles and husband Rodney of Dublin, and Sarabeth Williams and Mercedes Corona of Vista; thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Thursday, March 23rd, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Grady Walden officiating.  Burial will follow at Lyons City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home of Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
