Shirley Whitman Curl, age 84, of Vidalia, died Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was born in Greenville, Alabama, grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and lived in Vidalia most of her life. Shirley worked many years as a construction superintendent and small business owner in the Washington D.C. area. Shirley was a member of the National Association of Women of the Moose. She is preceded in death by her former spouses, Hugh Edward Warren and Kenneth Dorman Curl; parents, Ollie Whitman of Montgomery, Alabama and Lola Gardner Whitman of Greenville, Alabama; one sister, Bobbie Scruggs; three brothers, Bud Whitman of Mobile, Alabama, Charles Whitman of Greenville, Alabama, and Ralph Whitman of Red Level, Alabama.
Her family includes her children, Michelle Warren of Jacksonville, Florida and Mitzi Brown of Punta Gorda, Florida; three grandchildren, Peter Lee, Christina Council and Kelley Lee-Garcia; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Thursday, June 8th, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Durden officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until just prior to the service.
