Rumors of a delay in constructing the new golf course in Vidalia can now be clarified and quashed.
According to Vidalia City Manager Nick Overstreet Friday morning, there are no environmental issues at the site of the new Warmouth Sands, but rather, the city is taking a proactive approach to ensure one doesn’t arise in the future.
Overstreet said ESG Operations, the city’s primary public works department, is currently performing a study on erosion control at the location and is developing a plan to ensure there are no issues.
Overstreet said the city is mindful of any wetland at the Ezra Taylor site, noting that wetlands don’t necessarily mean bodies of standing water. The city manager said the City Council and individuals who are volunteering their time to serve on the Golf Course Authority are mindful of the environmental concerns at the new golf course and are doing everything they can to make sure everything remains environmentally friend.
ESG’s study is expected to last about three weeks.
