obit Shuman

Mrs. Dot Meeks Shuman, age 90, of Vidalia, died Monday, June 5, 2023, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Emanuel County, growing up in Oak Park, living in Ocala, Florida for many years and in the Vidalia area most of her life.  She was a homemaker, attended First Assembly of God in Vidalia, and she enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and animals, especially dogs.  Preceding her in death was her husband, W.L. Shuman; parents, Clyde James Meeks and Elizabeth Susie Lumley Meeks; and siblings, an infant brother, Irvin Meeks, James Alex Meeks, Dollie Meeks Salter, and Jean Meeks Williamson.

Her family includes one sister, Pauline Meeks Burke of Vidalia; one brother, Bob Meeks and wife Patsy of the Rackettown Community; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday, June 7th, at 3:00 p.m. at Shepherd H. Findley Cemetery near Oak Park with Reverend Joseph Akins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
