POWDER SPRINGS, GA – Brewton-Parker College Men’s Wrestling took on the Life U Open in Powder Springs, Ga. with eight of the 19 wrestlers represented earning points on Saturday.
The day was highlighted by a sixth-place finish from Sean Houston in the 165-pound division. Houston started his campaign with a 18-0 tech fall, followed by a 42 second fall. In the next two matches, Houston won both by decision (6-5 and 8-7), before medical forfeiting from the last two matches to end the day with a 4-2 record.
Patrick Jones went 4-2 on the day in the 125-pound weight class, winning his first match in a 10-5 decision and the second in a 17-2 tech fall. After a 17-2 tech fall loss, Jones bounced back to gather two falls (4:03 and 6:37) for matches four and five.
Wilkinson Saul took a 3-2 record in the 285-pound division, taking down two matches by decision (8-7 and 14-7) and one with a major decision (17-3).
Conner Wright gained a major decision win (21-12) at the 141-pound division. Bradley Owens got a 3:52 fall in the 149-pound weight class. In the 174-pound division, Jesus Grijalva got a 4-1 win in sudden victory. Thomas Crawford gathered a major decision win (15-3) in the 184-pound weight class. At the 197-pound weight class, Jomar Sanchez took down a match by fall (5:50)
