4 3 24 Toombs Co BB

The Toombs County Varsity Bulldogs fell short against the Appling County Pirates on Thursday, dropping the game by a score of 5-0.

In what was a pitching dual through five innings, the Pirates erupted for five-runs in the bottom of the fifth inning that was ingnited by a Collin Ewaldsen solo home run that sailed over the right-field wall.

Trayvone Harris shouldered the loss for Toombs County, surrendering five runs on five hits in five innings pitched. Tray thew five strong innings to start the game, but things unravelled to some extent after the solo homerun.

Offensively, the Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm against Dayson Griffis. Jesus Quintero, Cameron Ledford, and TJ Stanley managed to scrape together a single hit apiece, but that was all the Dawgs could muster. There was a moment in the game where the Bulldogs could take an early lead, but the Pirates’ defense turned a crucial double play to stifle a potential rally. (Courtesy of Toombs County Athletics)
