In a season region marked by fierce region competition, the Toombs County Bulldogs are vying for a crucial spot in the GHSA AA playoffs. Following a challenging 5-1 loss in the first game of a critical series against crosstown rival, Vidalia, the DAWGS look to bounce back in games two and three on Wednesday and Friday.
The Bulldogs’ lineup showed some promise throughout the series opener, with Trayvonne Harris, Cameron Ledford, Kipp Mosley, Jackson Jenkins, and Tucker Braddy each delivering base hits, but they could never really get anything substantial going. Jenkins had the lone RBI, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit to defeat the Indians.
Starting pitcher Trayvone Harris shone on the mound, striking out eight batters, though he did allow four earned runs. In the field, an early error led to a costly Indian run to give them the lead.
With the first game behind them, the Bulldogs are now focused on the two remaining games of the series. Be sure to come out and support the DAWGS in Vidalia on Wednesday. They will play a JV / Varsity DH with games at 4pm and 6pm.(Courtesy of Toombs County Athletics)
