4 23 24 Toombs County BB

The Toombs County Bulldogs Baseball team ended their season with a commanding 10-5 victory against the Metter Tigers this past Tuesday night.

The Tigers initially took the lead, when a Tiger doubled to score the opening run. However, the Bulldogs quickly responded, snatching the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Clutch hits were the theme as Brantley Upshaw, Jesus Quintero, Jackson Jenkins, and Kipp Mosley each drove in a run, turning the tables early on.

The DAWGS extended the lead further in the second inning, capitalizing on a costly error by the Tigers’ defense, and were able to add two more runs in the fifth inning, as well as another three in the sixth. These runs would prove to be enough to pull out the Senior/Recreation Night victory.

Trayvone Harris pitched with poise and purpose for the Bulldogs, earning the win. In his three innings, Harris fanned three batters keeping the Tigers’ bats at bay. TJ Stanley stepped up in relief, delivering a hitless and near-flawless performance over three and two-thirds innings, and Senior Caleb McCoy came in to retire a batter to capture the last out, highlighting the Bulldogs’ depth on the mound.

The Bulldogs now turn their attention to post season play where they will face Jordan in the first round of the GHSA AA State Playoffs. They will start this season either next Wednesday or Thursday (April 24/25, 2024). The series will be played at home so make plans to come out and support the DAWGS!
