The TCHS Lake Dawgs completed their season on May 4, 2024 at Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, GA at the GHSA State Championship Tournament.
Six team members battled severe weather most of the day that involved heavy rains and strong lightning that cost them time on the water. Overall the teams competed well and were able to catch fish despite the weather.
Levy Martin and Drew Woodruff led the way catching their limit of 5 fish for a total weight of 10 lbs-10 Oz. AJ Bagby and Clayton Williams caught four fish for a total weight of 9lbs-12oz. They hooked but were not able to land several big fish that would have put them in the running with the lead group. Gracie Landrum and Carlie Richter finished the day with two fish for a total weight of 6lbs-4oz. They also missed some opportunities at a few big fish that would have given them a chance.
Overall it was a great day and a great season for the Bass Team at Toombs County High School. We had three out of the five teams qualify for the state tournament and Gracie Landrum was able to earn a scholarship for Bass Fishing at Brewton Parker College. We are already looking forward to next year and hope to get more students involved in the sport. (Courtesy of Toombs County Athletics)
