Brandon

During a special called meeting Monday, May 20, 2024, of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, Chairman Leland Adams announced that County Manager Brandon Braddy would be stepping down at the end of May.

Manager Braddy released the following statement regarding his decision to step down. "After much consideration, I have decided to step down from my role as County Manager at the end of May to pursue a new opportunity. It has been an honor to serve Montgomery County for 16 years as a commissioner and for the past 11 years as Manager," says Manager Braddy. "Having the privilege to serve my home county has been incredibly rewarding. While many local governments look outside their communities for managerial positions, I am grateful for the chance to have served Montgomery County, my hometown. I believe this transition is timely and in alignment with the needs of my family and myself."

Manager Braddy highlighted the importance of planning and upcoming documents that will need attention. "There are essential planning documents that will need to be addressed. These include negotiating a new Service Delivery Strategy with the cities, drafting a new Comprehensive Plan by October 2025, pursuing grant opportunities for the Hazard Mitigation Plan as well as a transportation plan. These plans will chart the course for the county over the next decade. My departure presents an opportunity for the county to bring in a new manager who can offer a fresh perspective in developing these plans. The new county manager will also be able to guide the county in using the recently awarded grant of $3 million from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to make improvements to the JM Fountain Park located on Morrison Street in Mount Vernon. In light of this, I believe the timing of my resignation is appropriate, allowing the county to have a new manager in place to begin working on these plans and the continued success of the county.”

Manager Braddy concluded by expressing his excitement for the county's future and the opportunity to seek out a new manager. "I am confident the Commissioners will select a candidate who will excel in this role. Please join me in praying for the Commissioners as they seek a new manager and for the individual who will ultimately fill this position."

Chairman Adams stated, "The Commissioners and I have appreciated working with Brandon over the years. He has made significant contributions to our county, and he will be missed. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The Commissioners and I will begin the process of seeking a new county manager."
