Mrs. Janet M. Hamilton, age 80, of the Kibbee Community, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. She was born in Indiana, living in Connersville, Indiana, for many years before moving to Vidalia in the mid 1990s, later moving to Montgomery County. Earlier in her life, she was a medical transcriber for a few years, which led her to a love of nursing, becoming a registered nurse. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Georgia Southern University. She worked at Wheeler County Hospital, Meadows Regional Medical Center, Meadows Health & Rehab, Oxley Park Health & Rehab, and she also taught nursing courses at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. She was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed decorating her home; she was an avid NASCAR fan, especially her one and only, Jeff Gordon. She enjoyed oil painting on canvas, especially flowers. Her parents, Walter Rodenburg and Donna Darrow Rodenburg, precede her in death.
Her family includes her husband of twenty-six years, Lendle Hamilton of Kibbee; four sons, Mark Cox of Connersville, Indiana, Steve Cox and wife Laura of Marysville, Ohio, Bryan Cox and wife Kelly of Westfield, Indiana, and Brian Hamilton and wife Sonja of Kibbee; two sisters, Norma Bertch and husband Jim of Cambridge, Indiana, and Linda Kiaser of Illinois; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday morning, December 10th, 2024, at 10:00 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with her sons, Steve and Bryan Cox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 689 Old Kibbee Road North, Vidalia, GA 30474.

Mr. William James “Bill” Peterson III, age 74, of Soperton, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Treutlen Health & Rehab in Soperton, following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County, a 1968 graduate of Soperton High School, and attended Middle Georgia College. Bill worked twenty years at Edwin I. Hatch Plant, later at Southeast Paper as Control Operator, and more recently at Flex Steel in Dublin. He was a member of Soperton Methodist Church. He was an avid Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs fan, and he enjoyed shooting pool and camping. His parents, William James Peterson, Jr. and Carolyn Selena Alley Peterson, precede him in death.
His family includes his wife, Nancy L. Peterson of Soperton; two sons, William James “Will” Peterson IV and wife Brooke of Americus, and George J. Cipra of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one sister, Linda Peterson Jones and husband Hal of Dexter; and three grandchildren, Jase Peterson and Ty Peterson of Americus, and Aleigha Cipra of Chattanooga.
A graveside memorial service will be Wednesday afternoon, December 11th, 2024, at 1:00 at Peterson Cemetery in Ailey with Mike Galbreath officiating.
The family will receive friends at Peterson Cemetery from 12:00 noon until just prior to the service.

Mr. David Batay, age 74, of Montgomery County, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived there and Montgomery County most of his life. Earlier in his life, he worked at Piggly Wiggly Southern as a truck driver and retired after more than twenty years with Reeves Construction Company in Mt. Vernon. David attended Snow Hill Church of God in Wheeler County. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, raising game chickens, coon and hog hunting, raising hounds, and watching Westerns and NASCAR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Pheley Batay and Atha Whitaker Batay; four brothers, Cecil Batay, Benny Batay, Frank Batay, and an infant brother, Leonard; and a nephew, Shannon Batay.
His family includes five children, Julie Batay France and husband Clinton of Register, Jesse Batay and wife Renee of Mt. Vernon, Larry McCoy and wife Celie, and Danielle McCoy, all of Lyons, and Michael Williamson and wife Selina of Dahlonega; one brother, Billy Batay of Vidalia; two sisters, Janice Batay Sizemore and husband Jay of Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Deborah Batay Carpenter and husband Jimmy of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Donna McDaniel of Vidalia; twenty-one grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:30.
A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at 3:00 at Ruth’s Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Albert White officiating.

Mr. James K. “Jimmy” Hall, age 87, of Lyons, died Friday, December 6, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was a native Toombs County and grew up in Johnson Corner. He was a 1956 graduate of Toombs Central School and a U.S. Army veteran. He lived in Jesup for several years and returned to Toombs County in 1975. He worked as a garment cloth cutter most of his life at Wayne Line Manufacturing in Jesup and at Lyons Manufacturing. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and tinkering on automobiles. He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Norfleet Hall; an infant son, Clarence Clifford Hall; parents, Clarence Clifford “Cub” Hall and Eunice Sharpe Hall; and two brothers, Johnny Hall and Bobby Hall.
His family includes five children, Connie Sue Higgs and husband Darel, James C. Hall, Faye Ortiz, all of Lyons, Wayne Hall of Reidsville, and Freda Hall of Pooler; one sister, Alice Stokes of Columbus, Georgia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon, December 10th, 2024, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackie Adams Jones, age 71, of Lyons, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Candler County Hospital. She was a native of Toombs County, living most of her life in Lyons and Vidalia, and she attended Vidalia High School. She was manager at McDonald’s Restaurant in Vidalia for fifteen years and worked at Toombs County Manufacturing. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Lyons. She enjoyed shopping playing Bingo. Jackie loved animals, especially her Pomeranians, Gizmo and Pixie Ann. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilder Nelson “Wiley” Jones; son, Jason Jones; and parents, Edward Harvey Adams and Mildred V. Moore Adams.
Her family includes one son, Craig N. Jones and wife Crystal of Twin City; four sisters, Linda Adams Lawson of Newnan, Brenda Adams Pittman and husband Lanair, Kathy Adams Peebles and husband David, and Renee Adams, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, December 7th, 2024, from 10:00 until just prior to the service at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Emanuel County.
