The Emanuel County Board of Education held their June meeting last Tuesday. The first item of business was again the presentation of the 2027 Budget by Executive Director of Finance Danielle Renew. The proposed Budget features total revenues of 47-million 763-thousand, 833 dollars, of which 8-million, 990-thousand is local taxes. There is one more chance for the public to review the material before the final vote on the financial plan; it’s at a Called Meeting this Thursday at 8:30 AM at the Emanuel County Schools Central Office, 201 North Main Street, Swainsboro. Authorities say there will be an opportunity for public input, you can put your name on the list when entering before 8:30 AM.

Moving into consent agenda items, the Board approved recommendations from Assistant Superintendent Jason Ware for ECS Transportation Department future purchases of Diesel and Gasoline from J. A. Youngblood, Propane from Patriot Gas Company and fertilizer with application from A. Washington LLC. Also approved was the purchase of custodial supplies from Kamo Manufacturing. All based on bids received.

Moving on, the Board approved the resolution for ESPLOST VII to continue the one cent education sales tax that runs out at the end of June 2027. The resolution calls for a maximum tax collection limit of $27,500,000 over its five-year life. The document approved asked the Election Supervisor to schedule the vote on November 3rd, 2026 in connection with the General Election. And finally, the BOE approved minor changes in the Bullying Policy that will lay on the table for a month before approval.
