On October 9, 2021, Alamo police officer and Oconee Drug Task Force Agent Dylan Harrison was fatally shot while on duty with the Alamo Police Department. It was his first shift as a part-time officer with the department. He lived in Laurens County and left behind a wife and a six-month-old son.
After his death, the Dylan Harrison Foundation was organized as a way to keep his memory alive. Through the foundation, other families of law enforcement who have lost a loved one in the line of duty have been the recipients of proceeds from the foundation.
This weekend, a special rodeo will be held in Dublin honoring the life of the fallen peace officer and the Harrison family will be in attendance. A table will be set up inside the rodeo where people can make donations towards the foundation and proceeds from the rodeo tickets will be given to the foundation.
The rodeo will be Friday and Saturday at Southern Pines Ag and Expo area in Dublin. Doors open at 5:30 with the rodeo beginning at 7:00 pm. Events including barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, and more.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages six to nine years of age. Children five years and younger will be admitted free.
